New Covers for Candlewood Falls

My books in the Candlewood Falls Shared World Series got a makeover. While I loved the original covers for the series (especially the ones with my daughter as the model), I felt the covers looked more like Women’s Fiction, I and wondered if that was hurting sales. I know we’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but it’s the first thing that catches a reader’s eye. They might not even go so far as to read the blurb if the cover doesn’t convey the right genre. So my cover designer and I decided to include a couple on the cover (Contemporary Romance) plus an object found in the stories: Sam’s “magic” apples in Wilde Temptation, Lacey and Dean’s retired military working dog in Wilde Christmas, Flowering trees at the wedding venue in Wilde in Love, Willow’s well (where Rick was looking for pirate booty and got stuck)

Wilde Treasures has a new look!

Here’s the story behind WILDE TREASURES’ new cover. Though I like the original cover (photo on the right), it felt a little busy and hard to read–the title goes across the hair, there is a bright blue strap that doesn’t belong to anything, and the pink polka dots are distracting. And since the map doesn’t look like a treasure map, I felt this cover didn’t truly convey a treasure hunt story. Searching through pages and pages of stock images didn’t yield a better picture, so I decided to do my own photoshoot with the help of my dancer/ actor daughter in front of the camera and my amateur-photographer mother behind it. Both were super excited to join me in the project. Here is the picture of my daughter Julie we liked best from the photo shoot. There was just one problem, though. The eye goes to the model and not

Here is the cover for my Candlewood Falls spring release WILDE IN LOVE! Isn’t it great? I love the colors. Can a bad boy help a good girl overcome her fears to find true love? Bridesmaid and romance writer Brielle Wilde is determined to prove she’s brave enough to win the heart of her crush at an adventure wedding. Cover Reveal – WILDE TEMPTATION

I’m thrilled to show you my cover for my first small town contemporary romance, WILDE TEMPTATION, releasing September 3rd as part of the Candlewood Falls series.   Plant geneticist Sam Wilde spent his life savings engineering an apple variety to increase happiness. Now broke, he must find an investor before his orchard’s imminent foreclosure, but no one wants his red-fleshed, bitter-tasting happy apples—except for single mom Faith, whose apple peel readings are a hit in her fortunetelling business. Awaiting her ex-boyfriend’s return for a second chance to become a family, Faith makes and sells her apple & chili chutney at Sam’s orchard. But when the chilies’ heat reacts with Sam’s genetically modified apples, the condiment does more than make people happy. It makes them horny! As the town hungers for chutney, Sam and Faith create an experiment for their arousal hypothesis and soon discover their test subjects aren’t the only

Make It Work! & RENEGADE Cover Reveal

Three little words my karate Sensei A.J. Advincula says is Make it work! This means that sometimes the student must adjust a technique, principle, or concept in order to execute a technique based on individual needs. For example, someone shorter than their attacker (like me) may be better off countering an attack with groin strike rather than a strike to the throat. Why would I reach up when my target of opportunity, the groin, is closer? Adjusting, adapting, and overcoming—AKA making it work—applies in the martial arts, in life (as we’ve all been experiencing in the Covid-19 era), and in writing. One time, when Sensei Advincula stayed at our house for a long weekend of karate training, he taught us knife-fighting techniques with the Flesheater, the combat knife he designed. This awesome knife, custom made by knife maker Jim Hammond, is featured in each book in the Survival Race series

FEARLESS – Cover Reveal

Last week, my eNewsletter subscribers received a first look at FEARLESS (The Survival Race book 2)’s cover. If you’d like to get sneak peeks and early information about my books plus a self defense article in each issue, please click here and subscribe to my newsletter on the right side of the screen. Like I did for Captive’s cover reveal, I’ve included Fearless’ original cover from the publisher for comparison.   Again, it’s a nice cover (as was the publisher’s cover for Captive), but can you tell Fearless is a science fiction romance? No? Don’t worry. Neither could anyone else. Readers told me they thought it looked like contemporary romance, romantic suspense, paranormal romance, and even erotic romance. No one said it looked like science fiction romance. That’s poor marketing. One of the beautiful things about publishing the book myself is having the control to do what I want. My

CAPTIVE Cover Reveal

Hello and welcome to my new and improved custom website created by J. Davis Web Design! The header was created by my amazing cover artist, Karri Klawiter. Wait until you see what she did for my Survival Race book covers! But first, you should know that after the rights to the Survival Race series reverted back to me, I tweaked the books (Captive more so than Fearless). They are the same stories, enhanced. You’ll find the most changes in Captive, which includes new and expanded scenes from sexy, alpha gladiator Max’s point of view! Woot! I can’t tell you how excited I am over the relaunch of my writing career and for these stories to be back out in the world. Before we peek at the new cover, here’s a look at the original. Can you tell what genre this book is? Unfortunately for me, many readers couldn’t.   Some
